This time, I’m talking about neither food nor traveling. I just want to talk about what I’ve just experienced today.
For more than three years living at Columbus, never once I went to any hair salon in this city. I am not really quite sure why. It may be because I feel uncomfortable with American salons or just because of me being fussy about my hair. I’ve had my hair colored and cut a couple times before at different salons in other US cities. And I just don’t feel that they were as good as the salon I usually go in Indonesia. Perhaps it’s because the hair texture of Americans is just different from Asians. So, this is the reason why I usually wait until I go back to Indonesia in order to get my hair done.
This upcoming Saturday, I will have a bridal shower and a bachelorette party for one of my best friends. Considering that my hair color had already faded, I thought I urgently needed to touch-up my dyed hair before Saturday. Then I began searching for a salon that is good at hair coloring, and I found one with many good reviews. So, today I went there to have my hair colored and cut. At first, to see Dina (my hairstylist) having black hair made me so relieved. I thought that she was used to do black hair like mine. Sadly, my thinking was wrong.
I enjoyed my experience there. The people were friendly and the place was cozy. Dina was super sweet and very focused on her work. It was the first time for me to have the hair coloring fixed three times until it matched the color that I wished. I was very excited to see the final result at the salon. But, after I arrived at home, A asked me why the color of the top layer was a little bit too bright. I had not looked at my hair closely until he said so. In fact, yes it’s true. The highlight job was not done perfectly. Ohh, my skepticism about American salons now has grown even higher. However, I am still thankful that my hair gets slightly better than before, and I think it’s good enough for my best friend’s bachelorette party this Saturday.
Note: In the future, I should be patient waiting for my next vacation to Indonesia so that I can have a much better hair job there.
